The UTA CARES Grant Program, sponsored by UTA Libraries, was established in 2017 to support open education. In 2018, UTA Libraries awarded a UTA CARES Innovation Grant totaling $10,000 to Dr. Habib Ahmari, Assistant Professor of Instruction and the Director of the Learning Center in the Department of Civil Engineering at UTA. The project proposal submitted by Dr. Ahmari states: "The proposed project seeks to transform the traditional teaching Fluid Mechanics Lab, a Civil Engineering (CE) junior level course, by devising a Web-based multimedia platform. This platform will provide open access support for students and include customized lab manuals, educational videos, and an interactive lab report preparation toolkit. The project will be carried out by a faculty-student team comprised of Dr. Habib Ahmari, one graduate student, and three undergraduate students." A Pressbooks version of the OER resulting from this project is available at https://uta.pressbooks.pub/appliedfluidmechanics/.
