dc.description.abstract | The Maker Competencies and the Undergraduate Curriculum pilot program at UTA Libraries, which this presentation represents a portion of, was funded in-part by an Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) National Leadership Grant for Libraries.
In total, over 350 students, enrolled in 17 different courses spread across five U.S. universities, representing 13 distinct disciplines completed projects in their academic library makerspaces during the Spring 2018 pilot of Maker Literacies assessment tools. 328 of these students consented and participated in the pre/post-self-assessments, providing valuable data about their comfort and knowledge with eleven defined maker-based competencies. From participating faculty, we’ve secured 11 unique makerspace assignments licensed for re-use by anyone in the world, and invaluable feedback for improving our list of maker-based competencies and integration as SLOs for curriculum planning.
