dc.description.abstract**Please note that the full text is embargoed** ABSTRACT: This article presents a new context for using short story creative writing assignments and conveys the student perceptions of their benefits. First, the paper addresses the importance of creativity development for today's students followed by a discussion of ways and reasons fiction can be used outside of its traditional contexts. Next, the creative writing assignment is introduced followed by a presentation of evaluation results from two sections of graduate students who completed the assignment.en_US
